I don't know if there's a disadvantage, but I know they cost a lot to get. I use OpenOffice, free open source office programs that do the job. I prefer OpenOffice than Microsoft Office.

The disadvantage of using Microsoft Office is that because it is the most popular it is one of the favorite targets of hackers looking for flaws to exploit.

I was going to say, "none" -- until I saw Bill M's answer. He's probably right. These are great programs. I've worked with them all for almost 10 years and I can't think of anything they won't do, but the malcontent hackers do get their jollies by messing up things which please the rest of us.
