This is horrible, I can feel them jumping around (mainly on my arms, neck and face). Its like fleas, I can even feel them biting me, but there is nothing there. Its driving me crazy! It almost makes me want to just pill off my skin! Not that I would do that, but you know what I mean.

What you have is called formication. It is NOT body lice, unless you can see small bugs the size of sesame seeds on your skin (even nits and nymph lice are visible to the naked eye.)

The condition is defined as the illusion or hallucination that ants or other insects are creeping on or under the skin. Formication is a feature of some psychotic states as well as drug and alcohol abuse.

It can also be caused by a lack of estrogen (in women) or testosterone (in men.)

Unfortunately, a cure in any of these circumstances really does require a doctor or therapist. I'm sorry.

If you don't do drugs, I'd say it's overdry skin. I have the same problem on my legs.

Use a good quality moisturizer in the shower like Oil of Olay. You'll also want to use a good quality lotion for a while. I prefer a product called Wool Wax which has a high lanolin content and a pleasant fragrance. Doesn't leave your skin greasy, either.

Oh, and switch your laundry soap to a liquid that is free of dyes and scents. Wash both bedding and clothes in the new soap. You find some relief in a week or so. If you still feel it, try covering your favorite chair with a new throw after you've vacuumed it thoroughly. Get your rugs steam cleaned.

Please, please don't take this the wrong way-I don't know you and certainly wouldn't assume that you do anything illegal, BUT. . .Do you use methamphetamine or cocaine?

Both of those drugs (especially meth) are known to trigger a sensation of bugs crawling in/on the skin in some people. It's kind of like a hallucination, but not really because the individual does not ACTUALLY think the bugs are real, but they SURE FEEL REAL. I think it's maybe called "delusional parasitosis"? (Not entirely sure on that, but try googling it.)

A small number of people experience this sensation even with out drugs. If you think you maybe experiencing this as a result of taking meth or coke, get some sleep. 1 or 2 Tylenol PMs will probably do the trick. If you haven't taken drugs, maybe you should see a mental health professional about getting some! (Prescription of course!)

Are you on speed? Meth? Is this why you "don't want to see a doctor? Sorry to be so blunt, but the only thing I know that brings a sudden onset of this "feeling" is Meth. abuse. I have a friend who was CONVINCED she had bugs on her, little worms crawling out of her skin. Turns out she was using meth, and this is a fairly common reaction to it. I certainly hope this isn' t the case, but, it caught my attention, when you said, you've reasons not to see a doctor. If your'e clean, then you NEED to see a doctor. Hurry, that would drive me insane!!

Do you do any drugs? Meth makes people feel like that.

If not, maybe you have scabies? But you say you are clean, so that's not as likely.

It could be a nervous condition.

Overall, I think you should see a doctor.

You need to see some kind of doctor!!! you may have scabbees
my ex-girl friend brought home a stray cat that had them and gave it to all of us in the house, we had to spray the house and cover the couches. Or you may be dehydrated , or in need of some lotion, dry skin can make you ichy! There are clinics that can see you and help you afford treatment ! I suggest you seek help with this problem! Before it drives you crazy!!! The treatment may be very simple and cheep to fix! GOOD LUCK!!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have body lice. You'll need to see a doctor for treatment. He will give you a lotion that you'll have to cover your body with. It's only going to get worst if you don't get treatment now. Once you have treated yourself and your partner, you'll also have to treat your entire house, car etc. Check out this website for more info.

the only way to get over something like that is to watch movies like with spiders and bees like Candyman and other movies that deal with people getting attacked by bugs and then your mind will figure out what its really like to have them on you, its like reverse chemistry
