The thing is, I feel as though I shouldn't be really low on funds - too old and without a credit card - and I am somewhat embarassed. He is travelling a long distance to see me - he is from overseas and I want to show him a great time and really don't want to be preoccupied about $ when in fact I should be enjoying him. Please help me as I am a bit stressed about this and really want to look forward to his visit and such. Oh yeah, I live in New England. Thanks.

Since hes from overseas, he will probably be a little tired. Why don't you have a night in. Rent some movies and order some pizzas. It could even be fun to make your own pizzas and have them cook while youre watching the movie. You can have more friends over and play some games with a few drinks. You could even just go for a walk. Some of the best memories can be just talking with someone.
I hope these are good suggestions! Good luck.

Maybe you could plan out some inexpensive sightseeing trips. Maybe some trips or evenings that you could take him and introduce him to your Friends and family. Borrow some movies from friends and family to have around when he comes. Almost everyone likes to cuddle up and watch movies.Have plenty of Cd's of the types of music that he likes as well even if you have to borrow them as well. Then you can fix and inexpensive dinner(s) at home and listen to music while dining. Long walks after dinner don't cost anything. Maybe you have some parks around there that you could visit with hiking trails and even have a picnic...not sure of the weather there however.
I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do!

Walks, snowball fights, making snow angels, playing board games or card games, hanging out with friends, watching really stupid bad but funny movies, play games online (try atari.com for games you can play against one another if you have 2 computers)
Have you considered asking him to come at a time when you are not low on cash? Or for applying for a credit card?

I am gonna have a visitor soon also and I am broke. Don't worry, everything will work out and he probably has a little money anyway. Look on the internet for things to do where you live.

don't be stressed out...he is your friend and he is coming to see you because he cares about you. So just hanging out will be cool. You can always get coupons to parks on-line...that helps...you can just hang out at the beach, go to a bar and watch a football game on a big screen TV(you get to meet other people)
Thinks will work out!!
