Lay flat on your back and lift up your upper body and your legs and try to balance the two. Do that for a few minutes each night and you will be able to tone well. It burns like crazy but it works for me.

first, in order to have "toned" muscles you need to lose fat. do this through cardio excercise AND diet. not one or the other, BOTH. you have to have a low body fat % in order fo rmuscles to "show up." if you are muscular and want to keep those muscles you will need to keep up your weight training AND incorporate cardio into your workours. you must understand there is no such thing as "targeted" fat loss. So, you can not do sit ups and expect to lose weight/size in just your stomach, you will have weight loss all over. it varies from person to person. for instance, when i first started working out i lost fat first primarily in my shoulders and back. it may be different for you.
the abs must be treated just like any other muscle group. in other words: you should not excercise only your abs. you need a balanced program.
as for specific excercises w/ your equipment, try these:
do crunches while laying on the ball. start with about 5 sets of 15
you can also do many traditional "bench" excercises on the ball such as dumbell flys and dumbell bench. also, you can try shoulder presses while sitting on the ball. all of these excercises will require you to stabilize your core muscles so you dont fall off. make sure to use light weights and a high rep count (12-20) if you want "toned" muscles

Start with basic pilates floor exercises, progress to the core exercise ball. Compliment abs exercises with aerobics to get great looking abs.

This is known as the "prone bridge" or the "plank" which you may have seen a lot of people doing to keep their abs in good shape and maintain core strength.
I tried to find a good website with diagrams and instructions but failed to find one with both but this one is quite detailed( Go to the section which says "front bridge" - its not the first picture you see):

All good workout/exercise websites do have pictures which would be of great use to you. Hope you eventually get to try this one out- it is pretty challenging!

crunches! Just turn on some fun music and do as many as you can, that makes working your abs fun. Do sit ups too. (upside down ones work wonders) If you can, go ride horses, that gives your core the best work out possible :) .
