Do you mean they try to exclude you from the conversation? This sounds very uncomfortable. You can say calmly, "I would like to be included in this discussion." And just stay on that message. You'll have to decide, though, whether you need or want to be in on every conversation your in-laws have with your spouse. Maybe there are times when it is OK for them to talk w/ him alone. You're the best judge of that. Good luck!

How about "You're talking to my HUSBAND." Legally and spiritually, you are considered as one. If your in-laws are religious, you may want to remind them about the line at the wedding, "Whom God has joined, let no one tear asunder." Treating your husband as though he weren't married violates their implied vows as witnesses to your commitment.

"And your son is married to ME...."

In laws are never easy but stand your ground and realize that this is your husband's family, like it or not.
