I had drop foot syndrome before my 3rd back surgery. It was caused by a disc herniation that was pressing against the nerve root at L4-L5. I have now had a total of 5 lumbar fusions for other reasons. The surgery did correct the drop foot syndrome. You need to see an orthopaedic surgeon Hon. Good luck

Depends on why you have foot drop. Some problems can be fixed with long term anti-inflammatories and/or surgery, like nerve compression or constant irritation of muscles causing them to behave badly. Sometimes you can do PT to strengthen and retrain badly behaved muscles if that is the problem. Foot braces are not all that bad when you get used to them (I have, still wear one).
Best help I got was from a chiropractor on the foot drop, and a PT on the specific get working bits.
You say you have been 'though so much', but you do not say what that was. probably would be a clue about whether you can be 'fixed'. I had a long term recovery from a complicated multiple injury, and it takes about 3 years to get back to being yourself. You have to work you butt off for every inch of it - no pouters. Doesn't matter if you have a perfect right to pout, you have no time or excess energy to waste on it if you want to get the most possible *you* back. Work hard, win back what you can. Feel fabulous about yourself for doing it, even when children point at your brace or whatever. Life waits for no one. Good luck!
