I mean what is the percentage of alcohol. Is it addictive and is it true that "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder "?

It varies greatly. Some are bottled at 'only' 45% others 53% or 65% or 74% and one brand is 89% alcohol. However when properly prepared by adding 3-5 parts ice cold water absinthe is only slightly stronger than most wine.

Absinthe is an anise flavored beverage, so those that don't like anise might not like absinthe (it is a lesser anise flavor than something like anisette).

The alcohol content is about the same as gin, vodka, etc, but it should be watered down with cold water to drive out the flavor compounds and intensify the flavor.

It's as addictive as any alcohol, but not more so.

All the crazy stuff you hear about it doing is thanks to inferior absinthes that were sold in the 19th century. It's gaining popularity again in Europe, and the quality distilled absinthe available now does not have those side effects, but it does taste just lovely.

Correctly made absinthe is about 3x more potent than "regular" liquor, which is why it must be diluted with water. I doubt it's any more addictive than any other sort of alcohol. It is, however, damn tasty.
