Put a little rubbing alcohol on a fresh cotton swab and gently put the swab into the ear that feels like it is filled with water, depositing the rubbing alcohol, which should dry up the water. I used to use this method when I was a child and suffered with chronic "swimmer's ear."

Sounds like you have my problem, mate. I'm always getting water trapped in my ear after having a shower. My health carer suggested wearing ear plugs in the shower, which is helpful.

You shouldn't stick cotton buds into your ear (and yes, I know it feels fantastic when you do it, but you still shouldn't!), or anything else, for that matter. You'll end up doing what I've done on countless occasions - pushing bacteria into your ear and causing painful infections. Also, your ear canal is normally coated in a fine zinc powdery kind of thing, which repels bacteria. If you start cleaning your ear out all the time, the zinc gets cleaned out too, which is another reason you'll end up with infections.
So, aside from trying the ear plugs when you're in the water (shower or whatever), there are products like Aqua Ear which you can get from your chemist. You use it every time you've been in the water, and I assume it clears the water out of there, or dries it up, or something like that.
If you do end up with an infection (usually known as Tropical Ear), it's really easy to fix. Go to the supermarket and get yourself some hydrogen peroxide. Put several drops into the affected ear. It'll start fizzing and popping and bubbling, which really tickles. Peroxide is a powerful antiseptic (also good for putting on cuts, etc), and will kill the skin bug in your ear causing the infection.
Ever since I started doing this, I haven't had to use anti-biotics whenever I've been stupid and given myself an infection.

It sounds like you may be suffering from what a lot of people call swimmers ear either that or the beginning of an ear infection. Either way a drop of sweet oil in the ear will help with this. Just put a drop of oil in the ear and put a small piece of cotton let it set for about 10 minutes

never ever put q-tips in your ears--even though everyone does it. to get the water out--tilt your head toward your shoulder that the water is in. gently pull the bottom of the eat down a little so it opens the canal to let the water escape. this usually works. if not --just tilt your heat that way for a while and hope the water gets out. if it gets worse or pain developes see a dr.

You'll probably be ok, go to sleep lying on the side with the affected ear facing down and the water will drain out.
If it continues to bother you, mix a little alchohol and vinegar and put a few drops in your ear. This is a remedy for swimmer's ear, it "floats" the water out and prevents infection.

Hold your hair dryer up to your ear for a minute or two - not too close though, and that should help.
