i have a Ps3 and netflix - i was going 2 get Blu-ray disc and was wondering - Do I need 2 have an HDTV (opposed to a standard TV) to get the Blu-ray quality????

you dont need to have an HD set.....you will see a difference in the picture no matter what..... however , you wont get the full effect of Blu ray ....without an HD set

Yes, this is a definite. Not using an HDTV does not do Blu-Ray justice. I also use Netflix with my PS3. HDTV prices are so low now. If you can afford a PS3, I assume you can find an affordable HDTV to use with it. You're going to need at least 720p to see something exceptional.

When I did this I cut the POS right out of the box and sent it in. Within a month I got my 5 free Blu-rays. Pretty sweet deal if I do say so myself.

Yes, you need a HD TV if you want to watch movies in 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. The resolution is going to depend on what type of TV you have. If your TV is only capable of up to 1080i, then that's the best you'll see. If your TV is capable of 1080p, then you'll see it in 1080p.

yes because bluray plays at 1080 and standard televisions play at 480. and to get the fullest effect if you have a ps3 you must get a HDMI cable from the ps3 to your HDTV to fully show the potential of thep ps3, bluray, and HDTV
