Do you consider a woman wearing jeans a sin? What about a man wearing a skirt? I know that it says somewhere in the Bible (not sure where---sorry) that a woman should wear a woman's garment and vice versa. However I also know that men in Scottland wear kilts. I know that a kilt is not considered a skirt, but an apple by any other name is still an apple. Is this allowed because of culture? And if so, then is it not culturally acceptable in America for women to wear jeans? Just looking for your opinions on this.

I'm only asking because I got into a heated debate with someone on this topic not long ago. I am Agnostic, so I wanted some opinions from believers!

I understand that in Scotland it IS a kilt, and I am in no way meaning anything bad regarding Scottish men. However, let a guy here wear a garment that does not have a crotch (not meant to be inappropriate wording) and it is called a skirt, that is the only point I was trying to make.

Wearing Jeans is not a sin and the scottish kilt is a male garment even in earlier times men wore what today would be like a dress or caftan, but again it was a common garment or mens atire, but it is cross dressing is what is not right. Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Women are not supposed to wear men's clothes and men are not to wear women's clothes.... that is clear.

What are women's and men's clothes that is the debate. Many of the more fundementalist say pants on a women are wrong any time any where. I personally believe that this means a woman shouldn't wear guys clothes to the point where they look like a guy, same for men dressing as a women. Women's jeans on women are okay IMHO.

A kilt is not a woman's garment in Scotland. It's a man's garment. So it's okay for men in that country to wear them.

A pair of women's jeans is not a man's garment. It's a woman's garment. So it's okay for women to wear them.

The Bible says that men shouldn't wear women's garments, and women shouldn't wear men's garments. That's it. Whatever constitutes as men's or women's garments changes over time and from culture to culture.

No, it is not a sin for a woman to wear jeans. What makes it a sin for a woman to wear jeans? Kilts are not a skirt. It is acceptable for a man to wear kilts in Scotland. It is their culture.

I would consider jeans to be for both sexes. As for kilts, a kilt is a kilt not a skirt; it is a males garment in their culture. I think the idea is that one should accept their own sexuality as who God created them to be instead of trying to "be the other sex" like some people, for some reason, try to do.

I think that the mainstream society has accepted women wearing jeans is just a shift in our culture. it is only a sin if the person is trying to portray themselves as a person of the opposite sex. men wearing kilts in Scotland, is part of their culture, they are not trying to be feminine. i am a Christian female and I wear jeans a lot because they are comfortable not because I want to be a man. I don't feel convicted about it.

What the bible means, is God doesn't want men to put on lipstick bras, pantyhose and dress up like a woman. And woman shouldn't dress like a man. By cutting their hair real short, and trying to look like a man. Alhough in are society it has become acceptable for woman to wear jeans, and shirts, so I don't think God would consider that a sin.

Tons of women wear jeans :] And it depends on whaty ou consider a woman's garment, and what you consider a man's garment. It all depends on what you think. And the Bible was written a long time ago, today's the modern world; thing's change, such as fashion and clothing :]

Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.

This is based on Old Testament. Not to say it's invalid, but if it were completely true then alot of Scotts would be in trouble.

I think you should define sin as anyhting that separates you from God. The following of law is not as important as keeping you rheart pure. Jesus knows your heart.

Certain religions dictate whether a woman can wear pants or not, jeans included.

Is is culturally acceptable in America for women to wear jeans, it is by a per religion/belief basis that determines if is it not acceptable.
