it's kind of damp down there. I say, finish the basement so we can put an elliptical down there. but that is apparently not a solution anyone but me wants to explore.

is there anything unhealthy about exercising in a slightly damp basement?

You will not use it.

Possibly mold problems if it's too damp. Do you go in the basement now? If not, would the machine really make you want to go down there more? Think about it before you make a huge investment.

I'm not sure if there's anything unhealthy about it. But if you're worried about it, just run a de-humidifier down there. It should take care of some of the moisture problem :o)!

Now, whether or not you'll actually use the elliptical is another question ;o)

Why don't you put the ellipitcal machine in your bedroom or guest room for now? It will be easier to exercise if its nearby. It may not feel appealing to go down to a cold, damp basement to exercise.

I don't know about unhealthy, unless you mean moldy.

The only problem I can forsee is that it will be in a cold, damp place that is out of sight-out of mind. You might not use it.

Out of sight = out of mind! I would put that sucker right in front of the tv, if I had room. :)
