what are some good conversation starters with men? and it can't be sports as I know NOTHING about it -- and I would feel like an idiot. Also, what about conversation tips for a first date? I'm shy so it's really hard for me... thanks...

So, you don't know much about sports -- ask questions! Admit that you have no idea what the sports announcers are talking about, start a converstation based on that. Not only will it get him talking, but it gives him a little ego boost, too, knowing that you value his thoughts and knowledge on a topic he finds important.
