Don't underestimate restlessness, human boredom makes people do crazy things and with the emerging sight and sound generation, we can never be as passive as before. I'm sure people will say, "if I'm not bored following the Bible then no one else should be either," but I don't think any two people are ever the same.

I imagine all the killers, rapists and criminals are thinking, "What I always hated and detested and cursed above all things was this contentment, this healthiness and comfort, this carefully preserved optimism of the middle classes, this fat and prosperous brood of mediocrity."

Let's go back; Lesson 1, Seven Deadly Sins
PRIDE: Without a certain amount of this, you would lead an unsatisfying life, and have no reason to get up in the morning.
ANGER: Without a certain amount of this, you would constantly be taken advantage of.
GREED: Selflessness is good, but without greed you'd starve to death.
ENVY: One of the ways we measure our own existence is by comparing it to others'. Why shouldn't we want the best for ourselves?
LUST: Sex has been proven to be healthy and medically beneficial, need I say more?
SLOTH: Without a certain amount of laziness, you'd work yourself into an early grave.Prolonged physical strain isn't healthy.
GLUTTONY: We're all gluttons in one way or another, some are literal gluttons in that they eat constantly, some are gluttons for money, some are even gluttons for jesus.

Hi
In my understanding, sin is the fruit of insanity... total perversion of Godly order. When you start to love sin, you have begun to slip away from sanity. I don't mean 'order' in a suffocating, rigidly regimental way, although that might be part of learning to walk "the narrow way" at first. I mean 'order' in the beautiful and gracious way that we start to marvel at, and worship, when we have a genuine, real, PERSONAL relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Until then you will likely find the Bible boring, but persevere... and, by the way, the Great Artist, Creator of all the colors of the Universe, of all melodies and the awesome thunder, is looking for those gifted members of the "sight and sound generation" to step forward and use their gifts to serve him through serving wo/mankind. Have a brilliant 2007!

I agree with a previous answer...people ARE going insane WITH sin. Besides, if there was no sin we wouldn't know the difference and we would live not knowing what sin was. It would be WONDERFUL just as it will be when we get to Heaven.

I think God tells us the right way to go in our lives to keep us on an even keel. He lets us know when we do something wrong. Most of the time the wrong thing makes us feel really bad because we know it's wrong and we try to cover it up.

No, as a matter of fact I would be so happy if there was no sin in the world. Imagine how it would be. Everyone would get along, there would be no killing, no hate and the list goes on. We would be able to see God and Jesus and everyone would be praying and respecting one another. There would be no hell, because without sin, no one could go there. You get the picture.

We go insane because we believe in the concept of sin. Get rid of that and our perception of our self and relation to everything else changes dramatically to a more sane perspective.

If we were to completely block out human nature, we would all be in prison. If we eliminated the need to suppress human nature, then there would be (to a dergee) a slight drop in crime.
