What damages your hair more blow drying it or straightening it? I have heard that blow drying burns your hair but so does straightening it. My friend blow dries and straightens her hair and it is fried!!! Which method will damage your hair the least?
And when I mean blow drying i dont mean blow drying it straight. my purpose to dry my hair is to literally just dry it

Blow drying the hair does the least damage but its actually better to "air" dry it. Maybe every other time she dries her hair for some reason she should air dry it. Straighten isnt good because you're applying A LOT of heat straight onto the hair. Straighten wouldnt be sooooo bad if she used spray that is used for Thermal use (if she curls or straightens her hair). Thermal spray can protect again thermal use, and split ends. I have the CHI Thermal Polishing spray... if you wanna check it out... just type that into a search.

I think it all comes down to the quality of the hair dryer/straightener you are using. There are new straighteners out that are designed to do less damage to your hair, i.e the ceramic ones with lower temperatures. But think about 200 degrees going on to your hair at one time with the straightener - my hair dresser advised that using a good hair dryer is better than a hair straighter (when I say good, I mean a professional one, not Kmart brand). I would not recommend those straighteners that straighten your hair from wet to dry, not good!

Both can damage your hair. Many stylists say to let your hair airdrye.(just leave it) then style it after it is dry. That is the best way from keeping hair in good healthy shape. But if you must have it dry in a hurry then blowdry it on cold air and on minimum speed/setting. Blowing hair completely dry then straightening it can be damaging if you do this all the time. Also to keep hair in good shape use a leave- in -conditoner after your done shampooing. Hope this helps. Good Luck

blow dry it only until its almost dry and then use a small box fan to finish it..Straightening will fry it.. In the philippines the mothers wont let the kids use a blow dryer they make them use a fan..it keeps your hair healthy and full and wont fry it.. Just blow dry till almost dry and then use a small fan such as a 12 inch one ..you can find these at walmart walgreens dollar store for cheap..it works believe me i started doing this..Im 52 and my hair stopped falling out and its full thick and long

straightening is far more damaging, because the straightener in so much closer to your hair. Also straightening is not ment to dry your hair and will take a long time!

straightening will fry it much faster that a blow dryer. The hotter and closer the heat is, the more it will dehydrate your hair. at least with the blow dryer it isnt direct pressure, and constant heat.

It depends on what technique you are using, how high the heat is, how often you do it, and if you do it with product or not. Any form of heat styling is damaging. Damage control is not so much about the method, but the person doing it.

well, what i do is to blow dry unti it's damp. then i let it air dry itself. i don't have to straigten my hair, it's naturally that way. but if one wants striaght hair i suggest instead of getting a perm, use that same chemical on your hair but instead up putting it up in rollers comb it out straight then do what the directons say. a lot safer for your hair and it doesn't burn it.
