this word is the most multi-usable word in informal arabic, especially lebanese.
I had an american friend who got confused because lebanese people put this word in almost every sentence.
but mostly yalla means come on or hurry up and no it does not spell ya allah.
also someties you can use yalla once you want to start a new task, or once you are leaving a certain group but still it does not mean bye, it is like an accessory used in speech
so you say yalla bye if you want to farewell somebody.

Three explanations:

1) "Yalla" - In coloquial Egyptian is used when calling someone you know well, like "Hey kid". It is a slang way of calling a buddy, or drawing his attention to something you are going to say, something like the phrase "Hey dude" in the States.

2) "Yal-lah" - Let's go, hurry up, let's do it!

3) "Ya Allah" - O God. This is heard when people are sublicating to God, or praising/thanking him.

Some Arabs use No.2 when saying goodbye, but the official way of saying bye is "salam" or "assalamu alaykum". In colloquial Egyptian, it's "ma3as salama".

yalla could mean: come on, let's go, hurry up depending on the situation
but ya Allah is different. it is literally: Oh God!
