Physiologically speaking - a person who is dying still has their hearing as it is the last sense to go. Also, from what I've studied it can be there a few seconds after the heart stops as well.

Spiritually speaking - Speaking from my own religion (Islam), no the dead cannot hear you speak to them. They are already facing their own trials in the grave (good or bad). The best thing to do is tell God everything and how much you miss them etc. :)

I believe that they do--when there is a sincere need for them to hear you.. I also think it must be within a few months of their death...when they are still clinging to this life.

After they have been gone for awhile, and passed on to the other side, I believe most of what goes on on this earth cannot be heard or seen by them. For if they could hear and see everything, they certainly would not be a peace. They would feel terribly guilty for leaving loved ones to deal with crisis by themselves--and that would be frustrating.

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah that they are dead; nay they are living, only you perceive not.

Thou makest the night pass into the day and makest the day pass into the night. And Thou bringest forth the living from the dead and bringest forth the dead from the living. And Thou givest to whomsoever Thou pleasest without measure.'

And even if We send down unto them angels, and the dead speak to them, and We gather to them all things face to face, they would not believe, unless God enforced His Will. But most of them are ignorant.

All praise belongs to God Who created the heavens and the earth and brought into being darkness and light; yet those who disbelieve set up equals to their Lord.

He it is Who created you from clay and then He decreed a term. And there is another term fixed with Him. Yet you doubt.

Well you won't know until you've died, however I think that talking to people who've passed on is good for you. It's a chance to say what you may not have been able to before.

If they do, realize that people like Sylvia Brown and other 'psychics' can't hear them because those dudes are frauds.

I actually believe so. But you need to know for sure if they are able to visit you or not, as a spirit. Once you know they do, you can then tell them. what you want them to know.

Well, it never says in the bible that the deceased hear you. God does, but it never speaks of angels in that sense. All i know is that they are in a better place.
