I have been told time and again by good Christian people I trust that premarital sex is immoral, yet I can not find any proof of it in the Bible. I've read all the versus about how you should keep yourself from "sexual sin", but in context it is always implying something like adultry, not premarital sex. So my question is: where in the Bible does it say that premarital sex is a sexual sin?

1 Thessalonians 4:2-8
For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to acquire a wife in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this manner no one should cheat his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

["Acquire a wife in a way that is holy and honorable" or you are in sexual immorality. Sexual sin harms others besides those who engage in it. In adultery, the spouse is always wronged. Premarital sex "cheats" the future partner by robbing him or her of the virginity that ought to be brought to marriage.]

Maybe this will help. Adultery is usually related to people who are married. Fornication, however, refers to the same act,only for those NOT married.

The word "fornication" is sometimes used in a symbolic sense in the Bible, for example, meaning a forsaking of God or a following after idols (Isa. 1:2; Jer. 2:20; Ezek. 16; Hos. 1:2; 2:1-5; Jer. 3:8-9).

The term that the KJV of the Bible uses for premarital sex is, "fornication." This describes all forms of sexual conduct that is with anyone other than a marital partner (your spouse). This word in the original Greek text is pronounced, "porn-aya" which is the root word for "pornography." This word is used a total of 32 times throughout the New Testament, and is always used to condemn the practice as a sin against God.

I'll be honest, I don't read the bible too much, but I know a lot of versus from when I was a kid. I don't remember premarital sex as a sin, but boy to preachers and other Christians speak on it. But of course, God is forgiving, and if he wasn't I don't think he'd bless my life like he has these past years. I'm a lot carefull with sex than when I did start out.

Study the definition of the term "fornication".

Then look up some new testament scriptures with "fornication" or "fornicators" in it.

Here is one example from the King James Translation:

they don't! We have faith its a contemporary from God, it became made to be enjoyed. Its basically that many human beings recently don't have recognize for themselves. Christianity says it may well be enjoyed between guy and spouse...end of tale! you're probably presuming that as a results of fact some poeple view it as a topic rely not ideal be mentioned in public, then its sinful. it truthfully relies upon on how the guy is raised. i've got never heard of intercourse being sinful in the previous, performing like a whore on the different hand is a different tale..

Hebrews says "fornicators God will judge"
that is sex between unmarried people

when the Bible talks about sex between unmarried people it says "laid with" and between married people it says "knew" There seems to be a superficiality in the former and a depth in the latter

the Bible does have a high view of sex not a low view... just as there was one marriage in the garden of Eden between Adam and Eve... there is one marriage in heave... between the second Adam, Jesus Christ, and the redeemed. Sexual relationships in marriage are a glipse of something we dont really know or understand of the relationship of the Christ and the Bride of Christ, the redeemed in heaven

The Christian obsession with sex and "sin" is absolutely beyond comprehension. It is ancient and two-faced, and helps to put the church in a place of ridicule.

There are some places where sex outside of marriage was discouraged strongly by Paul, but there are also tales of concubines held by Solomon and David, multiple wives kept in a harem, and prostitutes in Israel.

Good luck understanding this. I think people would rather focus on sex than hunger, war, corruption, or other forms of human suffering.

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

Adultery in a Biblical context means sexual relations OUTSIDE of marriage, which would include premarital sex.
