The best known readily-available vodkas here in the UK are Belvedere (Polish), Grey Goose (French), Stolichnaya Cristal (Russian) and Ketel One (Dutch). These are cleaner, smoother and richer than the entry-level vodkas such as Smirnoff, Vladivar or Absolut due to more intensive filtration and production.
You will find that these spirits are more expensive, but they are worth it. Please note, though, that these are not drinks designed to be mixed with Coke, Red Bull etc. The care is taken to make the vodka perfect, why spoil it? Would you make a 'Bucks Fizz' with Dom Perignon?
All of the above drinks are available in some larger supermarkets or off-licences. If you would like further details, please contact one of my colleagues at sales@vintagewinesltd.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Absolut is the smoothest vodka I have found, some places it is more expensive than Smirnoff, some it is not. Smirnoff Silver is a pretty good vodka also.

Absolute vodka is my favorite. I have never had a hangover after a night of heavy drinking with Absolute. It is more expensive than Smirnoff but not a whole lot and its worth it. I buy a fifth of Absolute for $23.00.

always get a headache drinking Smirnoff

why do you need the most expensive? I only ever drink vodka, in fact I am drinking it now, it is one called 1860 and is cheap, I really cant see the difference between the cheap and the expensive ones. I lived in scotland very near to a place that brewed vodka and then it was sold as a foriegn brand, if you want the best get a ticket to russia and drink theirs. It will put you on your back. lolol

cranberry juice is a good mixer. or if that is just too sour for you, you can try cran-apple. Another favorite of mine is an Arnold Palmer. That is half iced tea, half lemonade. Yet another option is to make some white russians (caucasions) with milk and kahlua

Grey Goose, Absolut (blue and flavoured), Stolichnaya (normal and flavoured). Zubrowka mixed with apple juice or even straight over ice is good. Stoli raspberi mixed with cranberry juice and fresh lime is also good
