You may get the necessary information from your last pay stub to complete your return. But the IRS will not accept that return without a W2 until the middle of February.

Yes you can.

The IRS requires an accurate 1040 form by April 15. They don't penalize you for not attaching a W-2.

But they will hold up your refund until THEY get it. (Your W-2 will be submitted to the IRS at the same time it's sent to you.)

yes, you can "prepare" your taxes using your last paycheck of the year. it should have the "year to date" information in a separate column. this allows you to figure out how much money you will owe/get back.

however, if you are mailing in your tax return, you must attach your W-2 to your tax return.

you may be eligible to e-file your federal tax return however using this information.

yes you can "do" your taxes, just use your last paystub it has the exact same info, but you'll have to wait for the w2 to "file" though.

you can but it would just be a estimate of what you owe or what is due you, it would be better to wait until all of the proper documents are sent to you, then you will not send up any red flags to the i.r.s. to be hit up in the future.
