Paul's letters were sent as instructions to the early churches, they gave instruction on how to live the Christian way. From time to time GOD raised up men to commit to writing in an infallible record the revelation he gave. The "Scripture," or collection of sacred writings, was thus enlarged from time to time as God saw necessary. We have now a completed "Scripture," consisting of the Old and New Testaments.
The Bible does not say. There is no scripture on the subject. We can guess and some scriptures come close.
There are two main opinions developed by theologians:
He created us so that He could have fellowship.
based on 1 John 1:3
To give Him glory. The following two verses are often quoted.
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. (NASB) Is. 43:7
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (NASB) 1 Cor. 10:31
The first passage refers to the nation of Israel (see Is. 43:1). Isaiah 43:7 then says that God created the nation for His glory. God does not say anything about anyone else; however, God may have created us for His glory too!
1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us what our purpose on this earth should be, but it does not say that is why we were created. Our purpose on this earth is to give Him glory. At first, this may seem strange to us that we are supposed to give God glory.
More than anything those are fillers, we do not really know why he created us, we do know much more about what we should do now that we are here.

According to Bible, I am not sure what verse, we are to be heirs with Christ. As a child I do remember the Bible speaking a lot about adoption and how we are to be God's adopted children. With these two points in mind I believe that God purpose in creating man is to have a family.

Genesis ch. 2 verse 5 and 15 suggest man being created to care for the Earth but I also believe God wanted man as a willing being that would worship Him and have a relationship with Him.

You ask a good question ...a question more people should think about.
I don't know that it says exactly WHY God created mankind, but it does say what is expected of mankind. I can piece together why I think God created mankind...
...God created man as a free moral agent, meaning we have the ability to choose our own path in life, whether it be good or bad. God could have created us as robots where we COULD ONLY DO GOOD. Just like I can make my computer say "I love you" all of the time. However, it doesn't really love me because it does not have a choice.
Unfortunately, mankind often takes paths contrary to God's Will. Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it."
Genesis chapter 1 ..."26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
The prophet Joshua and leader of the Israelites after Moses said in Joshua 24:15 "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"
After searching for "answers to life" the wisest man ever, Solomon said in Ecclesiastes, chapter 7, beginning in verse 13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."
So while God may not have told us exactly WHY mankind was created, God has made it clear how we are to live to please Him.
Please study your Bible. It is good to ask questions. God gave us intelligence and a way to find Him and instructions on how to please Him.
Thanks for your question.

All things were created by God and for God. See the passage below.
Colossians1:15 He [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.

God created man so he could know his self. But according to the bible, there is not a sufficient answer. However if people can utilize their intellect a bit further creation is moving from alpha to omega of knowing. God is knowing thy self.

The bible doesn't say why, but the only obvious answer is is that it was according to His unchangeable will and plan.

It doesn't say but I believe life is basically a trial by fire, the angels bow to us so there is something interesting about us.
Life is a test to find the strongest among men, strength in faith and wisdom.
