Hi Lisa...it may be helpful to have a vet evaluate her as cats who begin to soil inappropriately outside the litter box may have a lower urinary tract disorders/infection.

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for Feline Health on why cats soil inappropriately:
http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/Housesoiling.html

So why do cats urinate or defecate on your bed or carpet? Medical problems are one possibility. Inflammation of the urinary tract may cause painful or frequent urination, inability to urinate, bloody urine, and crying during urination. An affected cat is likely to eliminate outside the litter box if he comes to associate the box with painful urination, or if he has an increased urgency to urinate. In addition, kidney, liver, and thyroid diseases often lead to increased drinking and urination. Inflammation of the colon or rectum, intestinal tract tumors, intestinal parasites, and other gastrointestinal conditions may cause painful defecation, increased frequency or urgency to defecate, and decreased control of defecation. Age-related diseases that interfere with a cat's mobility (for example, arthritis, nervous system disorders, or muscular diseases), or with his cognitive functions can also influence his ability to get to the litter box in time. In short, any medical condition that interferes with a cat's normal elimination behavior can lead to house soiling.

Litter Box Aversions
Behavioral problems, such as litter box aversions, inappropriate site preferences, or urine spraying can also lead to house soiling. An aversion implies that there is something about the litter box that your cat finds unsavory. It could be the box, the litter, the location of the box, or all three.

To remove cat urine consider using Nature's Miracle Just for Cats found worldwide at any pet store. It's an enzymatic neutralizer specifically made for cat urine/feces odours which works by breaking down feline urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry so it's important not to try and soak any of the solution back up in order for it to effectively eat away the urine proteins. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas in order to destroy the odours deep into the padding.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

try sprinkling pepper or some kind of citrus on the spot... cats usually smell before they pee and both smells will irritate them so they dont pee there. however, they may just find somewhere else to pee.
when i had this problem with my cat, (we moved home to my parents house, which included 4 cats and a dog that my cat did NOT get along with) my vet put him on prozac. it worked really well, he didnt pee anywhere he wasnt supposed to. and it didnt make him weird or lethargic, it really didnt change his behavior at all except the peeing. when we moved out of my parents house i stopped giving it to him and he's been fine.
also, their is this stuff called Feliway. it is a spray that mimics the pheromones cats give off when they are happy. look at drsfosthersmith.com or petco or something like that, there is a Feliway plug-in that i got for my cat, i thought it was easier then spraying everything in my house.
But overall i'd suggest taking your cat to the vet and asking what he or she thinks about the behavior and how to change it.
Good luck!

well what i did was put baby powder down and the carpet before and for about two months after the baby was born. this helps them get use to the new smell of the baby. to clean the stain and smell out of the carpet use ox-ye clean. it works great. about the new house thing I'm not sure how to help u there. sorry

There is probably another animals scent there, clean the whole area with white vinegar then sprinkle baking soda over the whole area for a day or couple of hours. Show your cat the baby's blanket and let her/him smell it and learn the scent of the baby.

try putting the litterbox there, you can hide it with a plant or screen(i suggest a fake plant so you can clean it easily and with the new baby it would be better); one reason would be because you have moved and they are trying to mark their territory by peeing and making sure their scent is in the house, especially if there was a cat previously in the home you are now in.

Put it's litter box there if you can and get it used to using it again, then move it and see if the cat still goes in it.
