That's because the earth is spinning on it's own axis.
The earth revolves around the sun.
But I guess I'm a heretic now huh?

A scientist recently did come up with an explanation of everything revolving around the earth that explained a lot of what happens. We accept the theory that the earth (and other 7 planets) revolve around the sun because at the time that is what explained the data received from watching the stars. There were irregularities that made it seem as if they could not be revolving around earth. I really don't know, but the heliocentric (sun centered one) does make sense (and, hey, that IS what I have been taught to believe).

The current theory is that there are many solar systems in our galaxy spinning around and many other galaxies in the universe.

Earth's man-made and natural (moon) satellites revolve around the earth. The earth and the other planets revolve around the Sun.

Ancient people used to think that the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around the earth.

Then we learned that the moon orbits the earth -- which orbits the sun -- which orbits the galaxy, etc etc.

Then Einstein's relativity theory taught us that the universe really does revolve around the earth - when viewed from the earth's frame of reference.

Then cosmology taught us that there is no center to the universe.

No, they don't. They appear to if you lack the mental capacity to understand that the planet you're on is moving. Except the moon, that does revolve around the earth. And satellites.

That's right. Sailors who navigate by the stars know about this. However, airplanes do not go around the earth. They fly over the earth the way birds do.
You can actually take a course on how to navigate by the stars. Of necessity it is a geocentric system of astronomy.

Then ask yourself, does everything revolve around you, since you too are here on earth.

consciences may see things out side of its self, however, you are the center of the universe and how or where you wish to place those things is only a matter of prespective.

move beyond the stars and you will find yourself watching earth as it circle over your head. No matter where you place yourself you are the center of the universe and more!

I argued this point in High school science class--a debate between the heliocentric and geocentric theories--I won easily because the heliocentric theory is largely accepted on faith
