we are to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
First of all, you need to know that unless you have been born again into His family, He is NOT your FATHER. You are His creation, with the purpose of serving Him,and enjoy Him forever. He has given you free choice, you can serve Him and enjoy Him forever, or you can serve anyone else and end up separated from Him forever.
Why wouldn't you praise Him, when you consider all He has given you?
If you want Him to be your father, you must be born again. That is when you realize your sin has killed any chance of life in Christ, and you repent (go and sin no more) and accept Jesus's death as payment for your sin. Then you are made clean by the blood of Jesus and become a new person. That person is the son of God, and can feel free to call Him Father.

Reverse your thinking, treat your father like God. haha Not likely, but that's what that means.
Change churches, perhaps the Holy Spirit is drawing you away from the holding hands in the air type of worship and into another direction. Try many churches, learn about them because you consider giving up on THE CHURCH as a whole.
***** I think your questions falls into that category of "There are no wrong questions********** For young people and older people as well, there are times in our lives when we question religion. Some things are taken on faith alone, but how you worship is really up to you! You don't HAVE to go to your parents church to be a Christian First Class.

Your question requires looking at the different attributes of God. One attribute is His sovreignty (in other words God is the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God who spoke and the universe lept into existence). The correct response to such a person is to worship Him, isn't it, because such a person is worthy of worship? So that's why we worship Him. God's other attributes include His love for us, His patience with us, His protection of us, His correction of us when we're wrong, His guidance of us etc., etc., etc. Jesus used the analogy of a father and child to describe God's relationship to us because humans can readily understand the nature and qualities of the parent-child relationship (that is, love, patience protection, correction, forgiveness etc.). So at one level, we worship God because, as the God of the universe, He is worthy of worship. At another level, we speak of Him as our Father because our relationship with Him has the same qualities that exist between a perfect Father and His son or daughter. Jesus worshipped His Father through prayer, obedience, song, lots of different ways. Precisely how we worship God is not as important as the fact that we find time to worship God. We can worship God in prayer, by being obedient to His Will, by singing, by lifting our hands in praise, by being His hands and feet on this earth (i.e. helping others), by being patient, by being loving, by being kind to other people etc, lots of different ways. The essence of worship is acknowleding God's greatness and our total dependence upon His grace, love and forgiveness to help us overcome our sins. Whatever way you can sincerely communicate those feelings to God will be fine to Him.

God is different than an earthly father, He is out Heaven Father.
He is called Father because He watches over us and takes good care of us like a father would take care of his kids. Only our Heavenly Father has the power to give us everlasting eternal life.

An omnipotent god does not need worship. Why would God need people praising him? For his ego?

You don't have to do anything....Since it appears you have never been born again ....you have no right to come to God as your Father anyway....so I would not expect you to understand the wonderful benefits of worshipping God.
