I've been dating my boyfriend for about five months,and I'm not quiet sure where we are at this point. I want to know, but I don't want to scare him by asking him are we on the same page.

Listen you have just been going out for 5 months you need to give it a little more time , but you should know in your heart if he is doing right . A girl can feel these things .

where would you like to be. don't say anything just yet. it's just been 5 months. don't be in a rush to define everything. just while you are talking to him....tell him the kind of man you don't want and let him show you who he is.
i.e. i don't want a man who is not honest with me.
i don't want a man who can't make a decision.
i don't want a man who doesn't have any goals.
i don't want to be in a relationship that's going no where.
tell him what your goals are and let him catch up if he's interested.
if all you want to be is BF/GF then that's all he'll give you.

Maybe its a guy thing but how is he supposed to answer that? What are the options for where you are in the relationship. He is still with you so he must want to be with you.

5 months is too short to think about that question. Just let it runs it's course. Guys need time to decide what they want to do.

It's hard to gage when it is okay. If he calls you his girlfriend, obviously he cares about you and so I don't think it will scare him to ask where you are, as long as you aren't asking if/when he's going to propose or anything like that.

5 months you should already know if you don't than yes you need to ask.But where do you think ya'll are at in this point than ask him if that's were ya'll are at.If he goes he ain't really.And you should know there are plenty of guys out there so do sweat that part.

Does he kiss you in public? Does he hang out with you much? Does he introduce you to his mates or does he just leave you in the car? Think about it.
