As of 1890 it has NOT been practiced, and any members that do enter into Polygamist marriages or preach the lifestyle are EXCOMMUNICATED from the church. Also 90% of the people that do practice it now ARE/HAVE NEVER BEEN MEMBERS of the church. They claim that for their own purposes to use the Freedom of Religion.
Even when it was started only approximately 20% of the members were called to practice it, and even most of them did have a problem with it. It wasn't for the sexual aspect of it, it was for the support of the women and children as a lot of the men were killed or died on the trek across the plains.
There is NO SUCH thing as a Fundamentalist Mormon or any sects. A person is either a member of the LDS church or they aren't.

YOU weren't alive 100 years ago, so saying we isn't accurate. Also inaccurate is saying that polygamy is not practiced anymore by Mormons. There are SOME who do, and openly, as well, in Utah and other places.
Get your facts right, you will be exposed as a liar when you post things here that are not true.
That being said: SO WHAT?? Let people live and do as they please if they are able to support multiple wives, I could care less. The wives may even be more happy as they don't have to have sex as often, which so many women complain about. Other cultures have had multiple wives, and still do. If the people of Utah, or other places want polygamy, I say let them vote the law in and be done with it. If a group of women and men want to live together, so be it! Let them do it without the legitimacy of the law. Look at the general rate of unmarried girls having children, almost 30% now. So what the hell is the difference? At least this group tends to support themselves and each other better than the ones in the ghetto who are raising herds of children on welfare with multiple fathers. No one says anything about that.

Because some still do pratice polygamy. For the most part they are radicals and have split from the LDS church but they are still Mormon and still use the Book of Mormon to protect themselves by saying that freedom of Religeon negates the fact that polygamy is illegal. Take the Kingston family of Utah. They actively practice polygamy and they are very big Mormons. The reason people believe it is because some Mormons still practice it.
For examples read:

and

It really does still exist

The main reason is Utah's decision not to prosecute polygamy. The result has been a tenfold increase in polygamy in the last 50 years, with over 60,000 people in Utah in polygamist relationships (which represents a significant 5% of the Utah Mormon population). Add to this the big news items where polygamist child abuse scandals dominate the headlines as well as HBO's "Big Love" and it's not unreasonable for people to come away with the perception.

The ones that still practice are called the fundamentalist church and are NOT a part of the mainline Morman religion, in which they are not permitted until they repent.
Because people judge with out doing their homework. Plus, it appears they have forgotten the scripture "judge not, or be judged yourselves."

You don't? Some do, don't they? And call themselves Mormons. True, the majority of you don't. But that's the danger of stereotyping.
