I have a cat that is half tabby and half siamese....he looks more tabby but has an amazing coat (i hate to boast...but one of the most handsome cats i've ever seen)...anyhoo, I was just wondering what breed he would be....i've been told oriental taby but he doesn't seem to look much like one. Thanks!

I have the same cat! I got him recently from a local shelter. Maybe we got them from the same litter. Ha.

He has dark tabby stripes, but blue Siamese eyes and the Siamese cream coloring on his chest and tummy. Only his tail is true black striped. He also has a lovely short coat, but I prefer long-haired cats.

I don't think you could call them a "breed." When any purebred breeds with a regular old tabby or farm cat, the result will just be a litter of good-looking and sparkly-eyed mutt cats. 'Tabby' is merely a name for the type of striped coloring - not a name for the breed of cat - and tabby is such a common coloration that tabby cats are rarely considered extraordinary.

The 'Oriental' breed does have its roots in Siamese genetics and includes more than 100 different recognized tabby color combinations, so you probably could consider him Oriental (though my boy doesn't look Oriental to me, either, and is kind of a chubber):

It wouldn't be a breed -- it would be a mix. A breed, meaning a purebred, is the offspring from two of the same type of cats. If 2 Siamese mate, you have Siamese kittens. If 2 Persians breed, you have Persians. Your cat is a mix, just like my kitty (who is also half-Siamese).

There's really no such 'breed' as a tabby. Tabby refers to markings (specifically, the 'tiger' stripes that a lot of cats possess).

It's possible your cat may be a lynx point Siamese. A lynx point Siamese looks like your traditional Applehead Siamese, complete with blue eyes, but they generally have a creamy colored body and their 'points' (ears, tail, legs, face, ect) have tabby striping. They're quite striking.

Hi. Your cat isn't a breed.Breeds are based on one type of cat breeding with the same type of cat. He is a crossbreed. A mix. Cross breeding cats does not create pure bred animals. I bet he's beautiful and will give you years of enjoyment. Have a great year.

A "Heinz 57." Mixed-breed cats make the best pets.

Cats are so much bred with others that it is almost impossible to say which breed unless you have papers for him- But know what? I would call him the special breed and proud to be his owner!! We have a few strays we have adopted and they all are very cute and distinct!
