I know this won't actually answer your question, but I have done it in a pinch. Not something I would do if I didn't need/have to, but I had to wear it for a couple of days.
I had no ill effects from it, but don't do it unless you have NOTHING else.

I definitely wouldn't. Because when contacts dry, they REALLY dry, as you know. There might be damage to the pores. But more than that, I'm surprised it didn't shatter easily.
