Atlanta is a city currently going through a Renaissance and there is a great deal of opportunity.

Traffic is very bad and getting worse, and the MARTA rail system is good, but only if you work or live in the 40% of the city it goes through.

If you are thinking downtown, Fulton County has a very diverse population and a lot to offer as well as the typical trappings of a large North American City. Taxes in Fulton are higher than the surrounding counties, but may be cheaper than what you are used to.

Cobb County has a little less diversity, but the taxes are lower than Fulton and the schools are consistently better across the board. You can live in luxury in East Cobb or find things a little more inexpensive in North or West Cobb. You might find a similar experience in Gwinette.

The bottom line in Atlanta is that if you live in the suburbs, you want to work in the suburbs. If you work downtown, you don't want to fight the traffic from the suburbs.

Work close to home! Traffic SUCKS!!! Avoid I-285 like the plague during rush hour.

I lived in Gwinnett County for 20 years and am glad to be out of there. If I were to move back to the Atlanta area, I'd move to North Fulton County or Cobb county.
