It is a treatable condition that one can learn to manage and live with so that it doesn't have a lasting, negative impact on the sufferer's life

Yes PTSD is a life long disorder once you acquire it. However, once one enters counseling and addresses all the issues surrounding the ptsd. to and including taking any prescription issued by the doctor. Life should return to somewhat normal.

I'm a combat veteran of 2 wars, have had ptsd for 35 years. I've researched the disorder published several papers on the subject, and counsel combat veterans daily.

My recommendation is for anyone who thinks they may have it to seek counseling simply if they try to deal with or suppress the symptoms and feelings they will be very worse off in the future.

Address the ptsd issues. is necessary.

It depends on the depth of the trauma. Yes there be triggers that are life long, but the extend of the interference in one's life may decrease. I have PTSD and my counselor says I won't have interfering so terribly in my life forever.

With the right meds, counseling there is hope.
