i've heard that it takes an astronomically long time to digest swallowed bubble gum. Is this true?

It never does digest. That is, your body can't break it down, but it will pass through your digestive system in 2 to 3 days, like anything else.

One to three days, the same length of time it takes anything to pass through your digestive system. Gum base can't be digested so it will pass through your system in one piece.

it doesn't digest, but if you keep swallowing gum then it could clog up your system and that is not good.
