You really need to give more details if you want a useful answer. What type of PC are you using. How much RAM do you have. How much grunt has the processor. Is it only one software application that this happens with or it several, or all software application. What operating system are you using?.
Ok... Here are a few things to try and help.
1: Don't have too many applications open at once, be aware that some applications (such as yahoo/msn messenger, limewire, kazza etc) maybe be running even if you cannot see them. Only run the applications you need too. Many apps will start up automagically upon boot which just gobbles up resources such as memory.
2: Get rid of any additional FX and graphics. If you are using windows adjust the computer for "best performace" (basically use windows classic mode). The screen might not look as pretty but things will work better. Make sure your processor is not doing too much at once. If you are playing music, editing photos and getting Excel to processing numbers all at once your PC is going to start to complain.
3: Clean out all the temp files and other crap that is taking up space. Goto "Start" and then "Run" and type "%temp%" This will open up a folder. Delete everything in this folder you can (some file may not be able to be deleted - that is ok, just leave them and keep deleting the rest).
4: Download Ad-Adware and SpybotS&D (see below). Install and run both of these free programs. These are excellent spyware hunters and will help your system run much faster. You should install these (or similar) anyway.
5: Consider downloading Registry Mechanic by PC Tools. The download is free, but you will need to pay to get full functionality. In my experience it is worth the money, but that is up to you to decide.
6: Open you web browser and clear the Temporary Internet Files. If you are using IE6 this can be done using "Tools" > "Internet Options".... This may take a few minutes to do depending on how much junk is in there.
7: Defrag your hard drive. This can normally be found under "START" > "Programs" > "Accessories". Defragging can take several hours so i suggest you do this last or overnight. Make sure you power settings allow the PC or laptop to run that long without shutting down the hard-drives. you can adjust the power settings under the control panel.
8: Consider buying more RAM.
Hope that helps you out a bit. Everything but the RAM purchase and Registry Mechanic is free.

Most of the times there are some corrupted filles on your operating system, sometime cause by VIRUS and mislocattion of some imprtant system files.Secondly, Maybe you have many programs running at the same time. Check first the capacity or the capability of your unit.Does it have enough memory for running programs specially the high level one. Try to scan it also with anti-virus using any anti-virus software but i recommend NORTON ANTI VIRUS. Try also to defrag your PC...If this option does not work maybe u need to RE FORMAT your unit, back up all the important data and files and proceed, for sure, the next time you start up you pc it will run in good performance....

It depends. Need more info. Is the computer running slow in general, or is it one particular program that does this? You may need more RAM.....you don't have enough system resources to support all the programs and services that are running. You may have corrupted software or services that either you are running or are running in the background...you could have spyware running, I would open the task manager alt + ctrl + del and see if any programs are using a high percentage of your cpu or try stopping indivdual processes until you find the one that is slowing you down.

Typically this is caused when a critical error occurs between the program and Windows Explorer. There is no answer that we can give you because there are a million+ reasons from faulty software to corrupt files that can cause the problem.
Try reinstalling the software if you know what is running when the error occurs. It could actually be a service.

I recently had this problem after getting the new Internet explorer 7 I had all kind of unresponsive programs. After filing a lot of error reports Microsoft told me that the problem was that I had an older version of the yahoo toolbar even though I got them together. I had to go to yahoo.com and get the new one you could give this a try it solved my problem.

If you know that you have royal blood in you, and you are a Prince/Princess. Then you should take it for the positive and know what you must do. What would happen if you discovered that you have royal blood I wouldn't care what people think or say to me I wouldn't say nothing at all. This is you , YOU have royal blood

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

You may be asking it to do more than it has memory space for. Try scandisking it and defragging it. Look into getting a bit more memory.
