I ski on 20 year old Rossi 190s, but people are telling me to go to a more modern, shorter ski. Got any advice?

That size and weight, you probably want 170-175 in a shaped ski, if you are a black diamond kind of person.

Demo a pair...if you haven't skied on shaped skis yet, you will be completely amazed.

If you are not well informed you need to rely on the pro as they will not send you on the slope with something that you can't control. I know those longer skis are almost like bat wings when you hit some of the downhill slopes. I may suggest a wonderful book titled, "The Anatomy of Skiing". I like Fire-bird Skis. Skiing is a sport all of its own, but it has so much self satisfaction. Good Luck!

Depends what kind of ski you're gonna switch to. They've made a TON of improvments in the last 20 years. You should spend a day(at least) at the mountain dmoeing skis. Those guys in the demo shop will be able to help you with size, cause that's all they do. Demos skis themselves, and help people get fitted.

On average these days with all the new "parabolic" ski's that have taken over, you can drop down in size. A great rule of thumb for these ski's is to select a pair that are between your upper chest and the tip of your nose.
Hope this helps!
