Assuming you believe you know the "Truth," why, in your opinion, do others not see things the way you do? What sets you apart in such an elite class?

((This applies to any religion as well as Atheism))

Care must be taken with this approach, lest it impose an intractable relativism.

Imagine a group of people who "ignore" gravity in favor of an ideology wherein demons are responsible for pulling things down. Should we give equal weight to this this alternative to gravity on the basis that it is someone's "truth?" Something is true, or "truer," because it survives a specific type of scrutiny - or at least is amenable to that scrutiny.

Atheists don't say "We don't believe in gods" just to get your goat. They are stating that they've never been offered any credible evidence backing the existence of such an entity. (Religious people implicitly accept this to be the case by resorting to the "need for faith.")

The point is that atheists are at least using the basic tenets of logic and the scientific method to approach the subject. If people want to claim that there's a better way to get near any truth worth its weight in ink, then I've never been exposed to that methodology. After all, any absurdity can be believed.

Well speaking for the atheists, others have a hard time understanding why we [atheists] don't believe in whatever god they may follow because they were indoctrinated to believe (i.e., brainwashed). When told since birth that myths are truth and having a lot of others believe the same thing... your common sense washes away and you may never see the illogicality of your belief and the improbability of your god and the stories following that god (e.g., the Bible) being true.

Theists have a life of a comforting lie and since they are comforted having an easy answer (i.e., God created everything and let's leave it at that - never question it just have "faith" (which btw, is believing without evidence)) they often times don't want to know the truth - no matter if the truth is "cold hard" truth or comforting in and of itself.

Truly though, knowing the truth is more freeing than having an all-powerful, judgemental hateful God watching your every move and monitoring your every thought.

I think that for some people, they choose not to see the TRUTH. For others the TRUTH has not yet been revealed. Only GOD can answer the question why? I don't think of it as being a part of an elite class, because with the knowledge comes responsibility. Being able to acknowledge things that you do in your life that you know are not accepted by your beliefs is hard to bear. No matter whether we know the TRUTH or not, no one person is better than any other. We all have special gifts and blessings.

I think that most religions do teach that a person should not lie or steal and so forth. But is that sufficient? Would one be happy to drink a glass of poisoned water because someone assured you that most of what you were getting was water?
Jesus said that his true disciples would be outstandingly identified by their love for one another for fellow believers.(John 13:35) The importance of that is emphasized repeatedly in the Bible( Gal. 6:10: 1Pet.4:8; 1John 3:14,16,17) However Jesus showd that even more important is our love for God himself, which is shown by our obedience to his commandments. (matt. 22:35-38 1John 5:3)
I find that the one thing sets the JW apart from others is that in order to even come to no God one should use his name.and follow the Bible. Even though it means that many people will look down upon you. But I am not hear to serve man Im trying to serve Jehovah.

Truth is relitive. Each person has a personal truth. There is no such thing as universal truth

Nothing has been disproven. Perhaps you should read the article again. Even if the Big Bang theory is disproven, that is not to say that God exists, but merely that we do not understand the origin of our universe. God can not be justified by science and you are in error for trying to use "scientific logic" to prove the existence of God. God is a metaphysic.

People see what they are ready to see. If they do not see "your truth" it is because they are not ready or because they are on a different path. In the end, it won't matter, because we'll all end up in the same place.
