I'm man enough to admit that I was a sucker for fighting in Vietnam. When will today's troops grow up? To excuse a spoiled Preppy like Bush for his unpatriotic cowardice during Vietnam, just because he struts around like Patton or some other real American leader, is childish and stupid. A pro-war draftdodger like Bush, despite the faked manliness of his high-sounding speeches, is the lowest worm on earth.
Why should we listen to those who don't care about the past of their gutless, girly-man leaders? The troops are afraid to be told that those who claim to support them are snobs who privately think that only expendable nobodies go to war and that their own precious brats have no duty to fight. The troops live in denial and childishly lash out at Americans who stand up to this President. The troops have no pride if they defend this traitor.

We're fed up with the troops' selfish attitude that we, the people of America, are unpatriotic if we don't waste more blood and treasure on what they so blindly volunteered for. How can these wimps call themselves men when they slavishly accept the anti-American privileges of the rich to start a war in the wrong country and sacrifice nothing of their own?
We're tired of hearing the whining of the military cult. They have earned no respect. Let them go off and flock around the chickenhawks. Let them parade the false pride of voluntary cannon fodder. They are nothing but suicide bombers who want to take us down with them..

A method of understanding this degenerate regime is to take the high-sounding mantras of its talk-show nannies and go far beyond the usual opposition. For example, their whining about the "Death Tax" should lead to the conclusion that the right to inheritance must be abolished, along with any other anti-competition advantages mooched off one's parents.
The BushReich's mouthpieces babble "Support Our Troops!" But the troops are no more American than our obsolete aristocracy is. A hawk isn't much better than a chickenhawk. We have no pity for other slave armies, why should we try to support these fake Americans in any way whatsoever? They are chickenfeed for the chickenhawks, no different from the Nazi-Cons or the boytoys for the rich on the Internet.

We who went to Vietnam were bred only on war fantasies; even Custer was not criticized. In politics, a privileged sissy like Bush would never have gotten elected to anything. As for the anti-war protesters, they were rich snobs who hated us even before Vietnam. But today's Baby Boomerangs have no excuse for not knowing any better.
Bush is a Chamberlain, appeasing the Saudi enemy. This mumbling twerp is no Churchill, who risked his life in 3 wars and also got the Nobel Prize for Literature. Dubai Dubya, the corporate multinationalists' whore, caused 9/11 through negligence and ignorance.
The first time I was in combat, I had to listen to a gutshot Marine scream himself to death. That's the fate I wish for the Preppies and Yuppies who have stolen our country. Though the troops themselves don't deserve that, they don't deserve any sympathy either.

I'm not sure that you can judge a person solely on one action. It seriously isn't fair to do so. I'm sure some one would be able to hate you just as much right now if that were true. And as far as those who support the troops being "snobs who privately think that only expendable nobodies go to war and that their own precious brats have no duty to fight." That is a completely ignorant idea. I know many people who support our troops that honestly support them, and although they may not believe the president is correct in his actions they still respect him for the title. I think you need to wake up and realize that yes some troops are whining selfish people, but they are still doing their job to the best of their ability. There is no reason for anyone to be so upset on something that for now, just is. The president is Bush, the troops are fighting a war, or training to do such... that is just the way it is.

As an ex-military man yourself you can answer your own question. The troops support their president because it is required of them by virtue of their duty and their sense of honor. These men and women feel the need to protect the freedoms that you fought for in Vietnam and that others have fought for and died for in the past. Although they may not agree with the policies implemented by the current administration they are bound by honor to up hold those policies without complaint. These are fine men and women that are doing a job that no one wants to do in places few people want to be in.
Politically I agree with your view of Bush and his administration; however, these people were put in place by the American people and the troops are required to carry out the policies of this administration until the American public replaces the current leadership with someone else. Just because the troops are carrying out their duties does not necessarily mean that they agree with those policies.
You have the right to voice your opinion of the Bush, that is a right allowed by this great nation but please focus your anger on the targets deserving of such feelings. The men and women of our armed forces do not deserve the negativity any more than you and your fellow Vietnam vets did in your era. Think back to how you felt to know that the American public did not respect and or support the sacrifices you made in defense of the policies the administration of that time put in place. It is as wrong now as it was then. You did a nasty job in a horrible place and that was no different than what the troops are doing today. You deserved the respect and gratitude of the nation which was denied to the vets of the Vietnam era and that was a horrible disservice to all who fought and died over there. Please do not foster that same attitude toward the vets of this era.
It is no crime or shame to support our troops without supporting the administration who put them in harms way.

Bush was an F-102 interceptor pilot in the National Guard. Many of them were sent to Vietnam. That's hardly a good strategy to 'avoid' combat.
Speaking of traitors, how do you feel about Clinton, who actually fled the country, organized anti-American rallies in England then accepted an invitation to Moscow in 1969...? Or how about Kerry who is honored by the Communist Vietnamese for his role in defeating America through psychological warfare?

They took an oath when they joined the service to serve and defend their country and to obey their Commander-in-Chief. That's why we should support them. What kind of military would we have if they could just pick and choose who they'll be commanded by or which orders they'll obey? I know there are service men and women who don't agree with Bush, but they're still fulfilling their obligations. They deserve our respect for having the character and courage in doing so.

The troops are brainwashed, if they weren't, they would walk away from the fighting. I feel for these guys and girls. I cannot imagine what it is like. I was told by a GI who had been there and will be sent back that he lived in abject fear 24 hours a day because no one could tell who was a friend and who was the enemy. also he believed that the higher command did not know what they are doing. I am sure you remember how awful it was for you. Have a heart for these people, please!

As a Vietnam Veteran, I would think that you'd have more respect for the men and women in uniform today. I don't know what you did - or didn't do - in Vietnam that turned you against all men and women in uniform, but God help you. Your anger toward war has to do with something that you're hiding inside of yourself. You need to wipe away your tears and grow-up. My family consists of veterans from WWII, Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm, and the present day war in Iraq. I for one am proud of our men and women in uniform - all politics aside.

Before commenting, I decided to check out your profile, answers to other people's questions, and your own questions.
Bottom line is I agree that you probably went through a lot during the Vietnam War (thank you for your service), but there is hope for you getting proper treatment. I would suggest (as one Vet to another Vet) go to the VA. I know it is a hassle, but they really will help you.

He took a job that I would NEVER want to have!! It is not easy to run a country and it is easy to make mistakes in your life. If he had been such a bad President, then perhaps you would not be allowed to speak your mind anymore...
Someday you will learn that anyone in the public eye with enemies has a LOT of bad things printed about them.. and not all of it is true.. but then..it seems to me that you are running from life and don't want to help make it better...
Someday perhaps you will love someone/something more than you love yourself and you will want to change the world.. but it will be too late to get inside the corporations where change is possible.
