All your cats need a high quality meat protein food whatever their "life stage". Healthy cats eat a 60% meat protein diet at all stages of their lives and it is only the inexpensive, poor quality pet foods who come up with this promotional nonsense.

You have many choices for quality pet food: Natural Balance, Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, CA Natural, Felidae, Blue etc. A good balance of canned and dry is also the best food for all your cats.

Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's articles titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food and "What Cats Should Eat", "Why Cats Need Canned Food", "Does Dry Food Clean the Teeth?"

Not all food is the same, but the up side is they all can be on adult food. I've had cats who eat dog food only, and some that eat only special types of food, go to the pet store when you have time and ask about doing a very slow change over to one type of food, if this is what you want to do, doable. Do any of the cats have certain dietary needs? Good question to ask some, if so what is the best route to take to get all on the same page. Best of luck to all of you.

The 8 year old cats really don't need any special diet that the one year old cat can't have. They are all at a mature age and can basically eat the same formula of food, unless the older cats require a special diet of some kind (such as for obesity or other health problems).

Don't buy in to all the hype the cat food company's want to sell you. With a cat a year old, mature cat food should be fine. You can occasionally add tuna juice or whatever to the youngster separately in the bathroom with the door shut. Don't make you're life too complicated. I owned eleven cats and kittens at one time. They were all beautiful. I'm down to two cats and two giant dogs. My personal cat is eighteen years old and a super-spunk. She has never eaten people food, (Cheese, eggs, meat, anything) and never touched a bite of canned cat food. I contribute that to her longevity.
Like the Lass who answered earlier, Meow Mix is their favorite choice.

Get her declawed. It's not cruel at all. We got my cat declawed when he was a couple months because he tore up everything and he still plays with string and all and its completely normal for cats to get declawed. They just cant do the back claws they only do the front. When your cat will just come out of being declawed, it will be very tired and sleep the whole day so dont be worried. Its paws will also look gross but thats only for a day or two and then by a week they will be soft and cuddly. You can put her on your lap without her claws getting stuck in your clothes. I would get her declawed if i were you. We are getting a kitten soon and will have to get it declawed. You will feel so much better if you just get her declawed.

What you do to change their food to mature food is keep there old food, and mix the mature food with it. Then after 3 weeks give them only a little bit of their regular food, and alot of the mature food, after 3 weeks of that just feed them mature food! They will be fine!!!!

Your one-year-old cat is still young, it's true, but she is full grown, so she should be OK on adult food. I would check with the vet, but I think as long as they are all healthy and don't have any chronic problems, you may be able to feed them all the same food.

anytime you change your pets food, you should do it gradually, by adding a little of the new with the old. As far as the young one, she is 1 so she should be able to eat what the others are eating as well.

unless its just a critical mass situation- do you really need to change it?
My cat (17 yrs old) has eaten the same food her entire life.
As did my previous cat that passed away at 21.
The same cat food- Meow Mix! Not joke!

good luck
