He said there is a new technology comming out that has something to do with lasers. Does anyone know what he was talking about? He also said this is not the new TV that uses silver. Can anyone help or send me to a web site?

Your friend was right about the new technology, but will see if that time table can be met.
Here is a website with some info on this technology.

Well the technology he was talking about is supposed to come out at the end of 2007 or beginning of 2008, and is supposed to be superior to either LCD or plasma. But this is not the first time that a new technology has been touted as the next big thing to overtake LCD and plasma, and none of the others have really panned out yet. I would say that by the time this new technology is fully out and priced reasonably, and has all the bugs worked out of the initial launch, you are looking at more like 2 years from now, and that is assuming it even pans out.

I have not heard anything about a process that uses silver but certainly plasma and LCD TV,s are relatively new and still at a premium price so if you can wait for a while the prices will surely come down especially after the holidays.

There is always something new or better coming out. The only reason to wait is maybe to see if the price falls...but no matter when you buy any type of electronics...something new and better will be out in a matter of time. This is why i tend to shy away from top of the line stuff...it just loses its value far to quickly.
