I've had a sore throat now for about a week, and it just keeps getting worse. I originally had the stomach flu, but the flu symptoms went away, and the sore throat remains and isn't showing any signs of improvements. I went to a doctor who gave me antibiotics, but those weren't helping. Then, I went to another doctor who told me to go off the antibiotics. They took a white blood cell count which came up normal. Does this mean it's viral and not bacterial? Usually when I get sore throats, they go away pretty quickly, and aren't this severe. My throat is really red and swollen, but no white spots. Should I be concerned yet? Or is it still too early. I'm worried I have mono or something worse.

Hi Chohan

All you have to do is eat something hot. Raw garlic will kill any virus, so if you eat a piece of that or a cayenne pepper you will be healed in no time. As soon as you eat it you will feel relief. Might be uncomfotable with the heal, but who cares. Be sure to also drink a gallon of water a day to help rid of the toxins in the blood.

Best of health to you

I think you have a viral infection, or a tonsil infection. If it is a viral infection, most of the time the antibiotics don't work.
If it is a tonsil infection, you need to go to a Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor, who specializes in this field. Most family practice doctors may only know the problem to a certain degree. The specialists know their field alot better, because they only focus on the Ear, Nose, and Throat, not the whole body.
One of my children had a bad throat infection, and the family practice doctor gave them a shot of Penicillin. It did not work, my child had to be hospitalized for dehydration, because they could not eat. The hospitals Doctor sent us to a specialist, who helped my child with the proper medicine.
One thing that soothed my child's throat was hot water with lemon, and honey. Also spraying the throat, with throat sprays which numb the pain for a while. Wrapping the throat at night when it is cold, helps keep the throat warm, and it will not hurt so bad. But before wrapping it, put some Vick's rub on the outer part of the throat. This also soothes the pain as you sleep.

Oh, well, this should make your throat clear up in a day or two.

1. Heat some water.
2. Add salt
3. Mix until dissolved
4. Gargle and spit

This worked when I had a throat so sore that I couldn`t speak.
