Hi Meredith,
The best thing that I have found to help me get sleep at night when nothing else works is Tylenol PM. Actually the Walmart generic version works better, if you should have a Walmart nearby. My doctor suggested this remedy as it isn't addictive. I am unsure whether you have some personal problems accompanying this symptom as you didn't specify. I only mention this as sometimes when we're worried, we tend to not be able to sleep. I assure you, I sometimes need help falling asleep and STAYING asleep, a half dose of this and I am fast asleep and wake up feeling very well rested the next morning.

Something that helped me was a breathing technique I learned.
Breath in deep and exhale through the nose slowly.
Keep doing it and it helps regulate your breathing pattern to help you fall asleep.
It can take 20 minutes it could take 2 minutes.
I don't ever recommend drugs like Tylenol because they eventually have the reverse effect and you become overdependent on them.
Hope this helps you.

I can't either. I drink sleepy time tea but all it does is give me a stomache ache! I try counting, writing everything im thinking of down, reading boring books, breathing techniques, listen to yoga music, but none of these work. I heard hipnoses tapes work, but I am yet to try that!

Maybe you have a lot on your mind. Or you drink too much caffine. It could also be that you woke up really late, and went to bed 10 hours or less from being up.

If you are healthy and can't sleep then it may be because (1) You wake up late so can't sleep early, or (2) Something is bothering you and you need to take care of it, or (3) something in your diet is causing this situation.

Drink warm milk & later on, a cup of peppermint tea. Take Indian herb jatamansi. Works each time, yet would desire to be careful to no longer take too plenty, or it is going to likely be too perplexing to get totally wide awake interior the morning.
