From my experiences with athiests it is mopre because they arent aware that there ARE any otehr religions, yeah they will, when asked pointedly, admit that Judiasm and Islam are a problem as well. But since they are all worshipping the same god by focusing on Christianity they think they are attacking all of them. They, like most do not accept that any other system even IS a religion, and even those few that do simply focus on christianity becasue it is the largest and most influencial (after all when was the last time you heard a Jew or a Wiccan try to convert anyone?).

We live in a society wher the words religion and Christian are used so interchangable that most don't even make a distinction any longer. The assumption is that being religious means being Christian and when you strike out at Christianity you are striking agains ALL religion.

Because Christianity is the largest religion, the pushiest religion, the most dangerous religion, and a lot of us are in the U.S. where 85% of the 90% of theists are Christian and half of them believe in Intelligent Design which is against Evolution (a scientific fact) and atheists are the MOST distrusted group in the U.S. - below Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians and other minority groups. We can't hold office and it is virtually impossible for an atheist to become president unless lying about his/her lack of belief.

Because Christianity is not open to atheists, as most other religions are.

Let me try to explain more plainly:

Although I do not believe in the term 'atheistic religion'(I find the term to be oxymoronic), most religions can still be practiced by those whose own personal beliefs are atheistic, or agnostic. Christianity is not one of them, & Islam probably is not one of them either.

But religions such as Judaism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confuciainism, Sikhism, & quite a few others, can still be practiced & observed by those who do not believe in God, or gods.

We aren't really against Christianity per say. However, most other religious people (not all, of course) don't bug the rest of the world by: 1) telling them that they are wrong, 2) telling them that they are going to go to hell, 3) telling them that they are without morals, 4) telling them that they aren't qualified to hold public office, and 5) telling them that if only they had an open mind that everything in their lives would be better.

So, sincerely, it is not about Christianity - it is about people who won't leave other people alone.

It may have something to do with the fact that most open atheists are in Christian-dominated countries. So naturally we tend to pick on the Christians since they tend to have the most influence around us.

Think about it: Conservative Christians: Try to push their religious dogma into science classes; Constantly try to convert people to their churches overtly or covertly; Try to get their "morals" passed as law in legislation so that everyone else will have to follow them.

Someone once said that virtue by force is no virtue.

I think that they are concerned that our religious views will make laws that they don't want to live by, example, abortions, they believe it is the right of the woman, while we consider the life of the baby. They want gay marriage, we don't. Although, I live in Canada and gays are allowed to be married here. They want their freedom to live outside Christian law. We see Christian laws as noble and worthy of right living for all people to live in peace. It will be interesting to see years from now when the Islamic religion grows larger in North America what laws they will want to follow. The atheists may wish the Christians were back.

I wish I knew...WE (Christians) don't spend most of our time slamming them in the hateful manner they slam us.

Maybe they feel threatened? Maybe they are angry we do not agree with them?

They :
*want to tell us we are wrong
*don't want us to hold public office
*don't want our ideals shared
*don't want our cause to grow
* forced religion out of schools
*fight against those who are pro-life
*want all aspects of our Christian heritage as a nation taken away as if it never existed
* want laws changed to support their agenda

--->> same things they accuse us of doing.
Double Standard?

-> We are not "allowed" the same feelings of course, because they want to tell us how Christians should behave when they are not Christians. They do not know our word and know nothing about our life or beliefs other than the negative they hear on the TV (which is usally extreme, isolated cases)

We pray for them. Yes, if in conversation we have the opportunity we WILL share how the experience of knowing God has made our life better and given us purpose, but it is ultimately their decision to choose Christ or not.

Because Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father (the true God) and those who profess Christ as their Savior glorify Him. They don't feel comfortable, knowing that they are on the wrong side of the line that the truth draws. They don't spit on the budhists and hindus because there is no truth to oppose in those religions. Those religions don't have the power to justify or else condemn a soul for eternity. Only the doctrine of Christ does this, and that is because the Bible is the only true word from the living God.

But don't listen to me. Listen to Jesus. This is what He says to His followers:

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. " (John 15:18-25 KJV)

"Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you." (I John 3:13)

Why are most of the Christian remarks against atheism? Athiests and agnostics don't even make up a fifth of the world's population. Aren't there other groups to remark against?

The reason is that it is politically incorrect to attack any religion other than Christianity. Christian bashing is the new sport of Athiests, Humanists, ACLU members, church/state seperation advocates, and Hollywood stars.

Example: Have you ever heard Rosanne's (aka Rosanne Barr, aka Rosanne Arnold) Stand up comedy?
