My husband and I got married about 4 months ago in front of a judge. We decided to get married then and save up for some money for a wedding later. We have planned our wedding for September and I have already found a gown that I want. Since we are already married is he allowed to see me in the dress. When we were married in front of the judge he didn't see the dress I wore, so can he see it now?

No etiquette exists for "Formal weddings following judge weddings". My suggestion is to consider this formal wedding the "real deal". The idea of the groom not seeing you in your gown goes back in time when brides were expected to be virgins. Those days are long gone but walking down the aisle and having him see you all dressed up in your gown will still be a magical moment for both of you. Don't spoil it by ruining the surprise factor. Please purchase your gown from a VERY reputable store. Poor service and poor quality can make the "perfect" gown a major disappointment

I know 2 other people that were married in front of a judge and then had a big ceremony afterwards. Neither of them let their grooms see them in the dress.

It is a magical moment when he first sees you coming down the aisle in your wedding dress. Don't take that away from either of you.

You're already married - doesn''t matter where the ceremony takes place - still a wedding. So what you're planning should be a vow renewal ceremony or a wedding reception. That would mean that it's fine (if you believe in luck or superstition) to let your husband see you in the dress you plan on wearing to the party.

It doesn't matter. You are already married, so really shouldn't re-do the wedding! That is just silly. Have a party where everyone can get together to celebrate, but you shouldn't be in a wedding gown.

Hello
Well, I'm not too sure if it's really bad luck, for him to see the dress, but why take the chance? Marriage can use all the good luck, it can get,so no don't let him see it, if you can help it, married already or not.
Good Luck!!

It doesn't matter if you are married or not. NOBODY sees the bride the day of the wedding except Mom, Dad, and attendents

Nah.... Let him be surprised and when he sees you walking down the aisle in this dress, he will once again realize who lucky he must be.

I woudl think so - but why? Nothing bets that look on his face the first time he sees it as you walk down the aisle:)

I am not really into all that wedding superstition so I say if you want to show it and he wants to see it then go for it!
