Sounds like dozens of towns I've been to. In a lot of areas with a small populace there is literally nothing to do so a lot of people choose to get drunk or sometimes high depending on the area.
You could move, deal with it, or try and change them. Those are pretty much your options and changing them isn't going to work, so I suggest moving.

When I was in school everyone was doing coke. I became addicted at an early age and then started smoking crack. I'm clean now but if I were you I would move out of your town as soon as you can.

Find a way to take advantage of it. You sound like you're smarter than the average bear. Get your PHD and bill them through the you know what when they need medical attention from their drunken ways. Or be a bartender and rake in the tips.

run away..............FAR FAR FAR away.......or move to a hippie town where all they do is smoke pot. If drugs arent your kind, run AWAY from hippies and drunk zombie peoples. If they follow you buy a shot gun and start blasting their heads off until there are no more Drunks and Potheads in the world. but then you will go to jail and their will be more potheads and drunks. so good luck with your endeavors.

offer to be the designated driver get every one really drunk on the way home stop at every third gas station and tell them to give up some gas money. if they are drunk enough and you do it right you can make a couple hundred a weekend
