Any significance to the first dance partner after New Year?

My gf is mad at me as I choose to dance with someone else beside her after the New Year countdown. Is there a rule that the first one you dance with after the countdown should be with your significant other?

She probably just feels left out... she probably just wanted to be the first person you danced with in 2007.
Us girls are pretty sentimental about that kinda stuff.
