I've never asked that question ... don't really want to know either.
It's dumb to ask and I know guys have done it as well. There are many reasons, testing, jealousy sometimes suspicion.
How you answer depends on your relationship. "If I mean as much to you as you mean to me than that's all that matters now"
That's my answer (at least to this question, maybe fits some others too)

Well they're not necessarily looking for the right answer, they're looking for the truth. Some girls will want you to have slept with a lot of people, some will want you to have not slept with many etc. Lots of the time they're protecting their own interests. I think it's best to be honest, lies often get found out and aren't really a good thing anyway. The "when did you last sleep with someone" i guess the girl probably wouldn't want to hear "last night" if you're hitting on her today, but they just want to know you're available, not moving too soon, etc. I'd say "well i was intimate in my last relationship.. it ended 3 months ago" (or whatever the real answer is). There isn't any point in lying, really.

They're just judging to see how you respond. Even if there is no right answer she's trying to see how honest you'll be with her, etc. Just be honest and sweet!

It's really the only way to win that one. Keep answering that way, and you'll have her hooked in about a month.
