if your diet is in check then the most important thing is post workout supplementation.

you don't need more than 20 grams of protein in a post workout shake but you need plenty of carbs (sugars). you really want a ratio of 1:3-1:4 so it would be 20 grams of protein to 60-80 grams of carbs

Try a Bee Pollen shake. Its a better and more complex form of protein than whey and most people don't experience the upset stomach associated with whey protein. Bee Pollen also is high in B vitamins for extra energy. Plus vitamin C and E. It also has better and faster absorption than whey. The best thing too is it's cheaper I get it from http://www.beeroyalproducts.com and it cost about 15 bucks and last the whole month.
Try this:

1 banana
1 1/2 cups Skim Milk
1 Tablespoon Bee Pollen
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
crushed ice

Blend it all together.

There are mountains of supplements and most are rip offs. I'd say find out if there has been extensive research done for the particular one you need and then make the choice to buy it or not.

My personal preference: EAS Myoplex. It has all the nutrients you need and packs 42grams of protein, which is a bit much for a single serving, but it's up to you to experiment with the right portion size. As far as price concerns, I would buy it at bodybuilding.com because you get it at a discount. Or you can try nutros.com

Met-Rx, twice per day. (protein milk shakes)

Steroids make your testicles shrivel up permanently (just ask Jose Canseco), creatine causes kidney problems, and human growth hormone leads to permanent disfiguration of your forehead and jaw to make you look like a caveman.

Met-Rx costs $57 for a month's supply, and is harmless to your body other than making your muscles bigger with strenuous excercise.

Natural animal protien.

Why? The body digestes protiens better and more efficantly when they come from natural sources, not shakes or the like.

Cost? Tuna, chicken... these are two good low-cost, hightly effective options.

Experiances? Nautral bodybuilder.

I've been working out for years. I've just eaten carbs (whole wheat pasta) for breakfast/dinner. I am cut like a carved chunk of granite. That's what I would suggest.

It's cheap as hell, too. Make sure it's 100% whole wheat, too, and workout hard.

Steroids.
They work well and fast.
Depends on who you get it from.
None.
