Do you mean the "Scotch Bonnet" pepper?? This is a pepper which is related to the habanero pepper, one of the world's hottest peppers. The peppers in the habanero family, which are frequently found in Carribean style cooking, are among the hottest and most potent peppers in existence. They have among the highest "Scoville ratings" (a measure of capsaicin levels) of any peppers, and can be as much as 150 times as hot as a jalapeno pepper. I hope that you really like HOT food!! Use caution!! Look for more info among the many Chilehead web sites.

I think you mean the Scotch Bonnet Pepper. They are small, usually dark orange to yellow, and look like a habanero, or squashed bell pepper. They are incredibly intense, and are reported to have smoky apple-cherry or tomato flavor (although they are so hot that it is difficult to tell). The Scotch Bonnet is a cultivar of the habanero, but they do not taste similar. The Scotch Bonnet also has a Scoville rating of 150,000–325,000 units, compared to the habanero's 100,000 - 300,000. They are grown mostly in Belize and Jamaica, but can be found in most Caribbean Islands and Island flavors, especially with pork and poultry.
They are named because they look like the old-fashioned hats, or bonnets, that the Scotsmen used to wear.

Perhaps you mean the Scotch Bonnet pepper:
A Capsicum chinese very similar to Habanero, but later in maturity with fruit that is not quite as long. Tall, vigorous plants bear peppers that begin as green, but mature to red. Fruity aroma and same blistering heat as the Habanero.

It's called a 'scotch bonnet' because it resembles one. It's one of the fieriest little chili peppers around.

That's a chili called a "Scotch bonnet". It's yellow and the second hottest chili there is (Habaneros are hotter).

these are one of the hottest chilis around
there are bright yellow, orange, green, or red and can be
distinguished from the habaner-the two are
often confused-by their stouter shape and sweeter flavor
these flavourful chilies are used extensively in hot sauces
and condiments
