a four leaf clover or other flower with four heart shaped petals.
four balloons in the shape of hearts tied together with a string
or ribbon. (i especially like this idea)
four cherries in the shape of hearts on a stem or vine.
a large heart with the other three hearts each a size smaller
than the next inside of one another (maybe in different colors)
and maybe a cool tribal design surrounding or coming out from
the side of it. (love the tribal look).
a trail of four hearts in different sizes (like you see with stars).
four hearts in an abstract design in the wings of a butterfly.
four hearts in the place of dots on a cute little lady bug.

Why not just wait a few years ? You're 17 now, and as mature as you clearly are for your age, you are still very young. The changes you will go through in the next 5 years are some of the biggest in your life, except the ones you will go through in the 5 years after that. What you do not want to live with is ... the 27 year old poetry girl bashing the 17 year old one for the choice she made when she was only 17, and thought she knew what she would still want in 10 years. Why not see if there's a way to get another version of it - maybe with henna ? I know henna is done with in much less precise manner than tattoos are done, but why not just have the symbols drawn on your wrist in henna, live with for a time, and then see if it's still what you want? The henna fades in a couple of weeks, so in case you decide that you don't like it, you're off the hook. I would opt for that before I got anything permanent, but get it in the spring when you're wearing shorter sleeved things and it will be in full view. Best of luck !

Something simple, maybe invert the hearts and have the four in a circle (bottom of hearts in the centre. It would look like a 4 leaved clover or a flower. Not only would it symbolise love, but luck too. Is that clear? Difficult to explain.

Depending on where you are positioning your tat, and the reason for the four hearts - you could interweave them with some tribal scribe, or possibly make them more animated and cartoon like. You could also combine them with flowers and have them on a vine. Really depends what you want to incorporate. A good tattoo artist should come up with great ideas too!!
