Tell him upfront that you really dohave a medical condition causing you to act differently. Make sure he knows if he wants to keep up with a relationship he can learn to let you be when you get a weird mood swing. If cares enough he'll try to help himself and you, but if he is afraid to face you and your "bipolarness" then he isn't a worthy guy at all!

I understand how you feel. I sometimes get random panic attacks, espicially around guys. Just sit him down and talk to him when you're in a good mood. Tell him everything you love about him, and try to let him know that even through your moods you still feel that way. If he's a good guy, he should understand.
Have you tried medication? And maybe take your boyfriend to a therapist with you. That way he'll know something is a bit off.
Good luck to you =)

Two parts to the answer: meds and education. So first up, are you taking meds, and if so are they working properly. If not, you need to see a psychiatrist and get started on treatment. Without that step, you are wasting your time and putting your life at risk.
Second, education. Get a copy of The Bipolar Disorder Survival Guide and find the relevant passages for you and get him to read them. It can be made to work.

You should get treatment, so your mood swings aren't so dramatic. And, yes, he will start resenting being your emotional punching bag - I know I did when I was dating a bipolar woman, and that's why I ended up leaving her.

This is really a two-part problem. One part is that he has to understand what it is to be bi-polar and accept that you have the condition and decide it he's up to the mood swings. The second part is that you have to make the commitment to him not to make him your punching bag. It's give and take.

i have the same situation. you have to take your meds and dont skip any.. that may make it worse. sometimes you wont be able to control the frustration, or rage but when it gets to that point write down exactly what you feel and discuss it with a therepist.
