Different types of lighting is a sure way to change the mood of a room. You can take any kind of lamp and get some sort of colored light bulb to put in it. I have one that is like a rainbow that is really cool. I got it at Walmart and it wasn't that much $. You could buy a string of Christmas lights for 1/2 price to put around somewhere maybe. Also, look on the clearance rack of stores like Ross, Marshall's, or Big Lots. Big Lots has tons of cheap stuff for the whole house. (if you have those stores nearby). Find a cool pattern on a large flat sheet and just put it up on the wall with tacks. Some bright colored pillows (pillow cases are cheap) and and a bean bag chair could add some life to the room. You can buy some cheap, colored crates to help organize your room and add some color. You can get those at Dollar General or some other dollar store. A cheap way to find some art for the walls is to buy a calendar with pics you like and frame those. Good luck!

Add Smiley Faces....and if that doesn't work you can either paint the room lighter add paintings, take some stuff out of the room to make more space for the light to shine, or you can buy these window crystal things that you stick to your window and when the sun hits the crystal you get this really nice colorful light that is reflected into the room.
Hope that helps.

House plants make a great addition and bring the outdoors in....also come up with a theme for your room and try to find items to correspond....my 14 year old likes cars and we went to salvage yards and got old license plates, and small car parts to add to the room....we spent $25.00 on 2 bucket seats out of a wrecked car and made him a PS2 gaming area....we also put tube lighting ($20.00) around the room at ceiling level for (less boring lighting). Use your imagination and you will be surprised what you come up with.

What about some colorful bed sheets and window coverings? Check out places like _Odd Lots_ or _Wal Mart _.
A colorful rug may help.

You have a computer. If you have a printer you can put pics of anything up. Paint something on a sheet and hang it up as a wall cover.

You've got more money than you realize. You need to know how to spend it. Decide on a theme (girls, cars and girls, Military stuff, Military stuff and girls). Then watch for garage sales, and check the clearance shelf at Walmart, and the trash bin at Priscilla's.

You could buy canvas and paint those bright exciting colors and hang them on your walls. That would be super inexpensive.
