uhm, quality products, fewer disenfranchised worker, lower unemployment, stronger economy (higher wages and lower unemployment increases spending which increases production, etc), less dependence of the US on imports (we have terribly lopsided trade).

It doesn't matter until the Indian product is sold in the U.S. or competes outside India with the U.S. made product.

Then the Market takes over.

Less and less U.S. product gets sold. Indian product gets the Market.

U.S. company invests in automation to reduce labor cost.

Automation reduces product cost. U.S. company survives with less Market share and fewer workers.

Manufacturing jobs grow in overseas Markets. U.S. manufacturing declines.

Average U.S. wage declines. Overseas wages begin to rise.

Wealth is more equitably distributed around the world.

U.S. influence declines. China and India rise.

U.S. needs to wake up.

Become an innovation and invention center rather than a manufacturing center.

Original ideas, research and inventions are key to future.

Education is essential for all the above.

Engineering, Medicine, Science, Technology... that's the future.

U.S. education is decades behind. U.S. students need to be motivated, encouraged and given a real vision of the future.

Otherwise U.S. decline is inevitable.

We need real leadership from Government, Business, Church and the American Family.

We need a uniting goal, something big enough to move everyone to join in.

We can start with the national goal of becoming Energy Independent in our lifetime.

Some body, hopefully an AMerican will buy that one cent item and come back and sell it here for 25 cents. If not then we are getting ripped off.
No one seems to care WHO sells us the cheap goods ...unless our government yokuls get a percentage of it for their war chests.
We aren't out in left field you know. The truth of the matter is that Americans can't afford to work for pennies. We need to buy some stuff abroad. The work around town like gardening and bed making etc, if US folks cant or wont do it, who will?
We can't allow illegals to come in here and steal our land from us because they will work for $6 an hour and it's not a living wage here. They live like animals while here. That hurts us. They send the money elsewhere. That hurts us. They use our service to our demise. That hurts us.
So we pay a fair wage and hire Americans. Keep the illegals out. Keep Americans in. The government doesn't want to hear this. The bigger biz guys want cheap labor. No cheap labor, no money for your war chest. American middle class doesn't want to have to pay for higher costs of living (higher minimum wage). So what the answer is, is to destroy the middle class, take the $$$$ from the wealthy and live happily ever after.
As a middle class person, I'm not happy about that! What to do. You TELL ME!?

Consumer economy.. based on spending more. 30% costs goes in manufacturing. American traders have to think like enterpeneuars. you stop that.. consumer items go expensive, means less purchase measn less retail , means less manufacturing means fewer jobs , now simply calculate the multiplying factor. so keep things in purchasing pwoer , let ppl spend and prosperity at your door. Japenese stil see thier economy as how much ppl spend. if retail sales is down its a worrying sign.

Paying 50 cents is only a viable solution if the government is doing it, then it amounts to welfare. For a private company to do it, it amounts to stupidity.
