375 degrees for about 45 - 55 minutes... Scrub the potato, prick the potato with a fork all over, pour a little olive oil into your palms (1/2 tsp) and rub it all over the potato. Place it directly on the rack in the center of your oven. You'll know it's done whe you can squeeze it and it gives. Easiest side dish known to human kind! DO NOT nuke it for any more than 3 minutes before you bake it

After scrubbing a large russet potato, dry it with a clean dish towel. Rub a light coating of butter flavored Crisco over the skin, and then rub entire potato with Lowry's seasoned salt. Bake at 375 degrees about 45 minutes or until fork enters potato easily. Before serving, roll the potato, using a light pressure to break up the insides and make it fluffy. Excellent!

How to Make Perfect Baked Potatoes
Potatoes
By definition, the perfect baked potato is cooked in the oven, perhaps on the grill, but never in the microwave. Microwaved potatoes are to baked potatoes what MREs are to dinner—not even close.
Start with the Right Potato
If your baked potatoes never quite taste like restaurant-quality baked potatoes, it's possible that you're not using a potato specifically grown for baking. Using the wrong potato often leads to a heavy, starchy baked potato.
Start with a russet potato, such as the Russet Burbank. Baking potatoes produce the light, fluffy texture that you find when you eat baked potatoes in a restaurant. While not a russet, Yukon Gold potatoes have a buttery flavor and make a good baking potato.
To Bake or Grill Potatoes
Ingredients:
1 baking potato per person
Olive oil
Salt
Smoked cheddar cheese, shredded
1 slice bacon per person, crumbled
Chives, chopped
Butter
Sour cream
Method:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Wash potatoes and pat dry. Use care not to scrub away the peel.
Pierce each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape. (Don't skip this step, because potatoes can explode in the oven.)
For a crispy peel, lightly oil the skin and sprinkle with salt. For a soft peel, wrap each potato with aluminum foil.
If baking, place the potatoes directly on an oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until you can easily pierced potatoes with a fork.
If grilling, place the potatoes directly on the grates. Bake 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until you can easily pierced potatoes with a fork. Cooking time varies widely among grills, and potatoes cook quicker on the grill, so check the potatoes after 30 minutes. Don't worry if the skin gets a bit charred, but move potatoes out of the way of any flare-ups.
Assemble remaining ingredients in ramekins and allow guests to dress their own potatoes.

Take warm water and a good clean scrubby and scrub the all around the outside of the potato. Then use a fork and pierce it about 6 to 8 times on each side. Then wrap it in aluminum foil, snug but not tight. Then bake it in the oven at 450F, for about a total of 45 to an hour and 20minutes, turning halfway through.

Scrub the skin, poke a few holes in it with a fork, and toss it in at about 400 for 45 minutes to an hour.
You can start it in the microwave for about 5 minutes if you want to reduce the cook time to about 30 minutes.
